How to Have Great* Hair (Yes, the * is on Purpose)
Hi everyone! In today's post I'm going to give some tips on how to have healthy, soft hair. The title has an asterisk because there is not one way to have "great" hair, or even a definition for it. Everyone has their own idea of what it looks like. To me, I just like to have soft, healthy hair. I don't change my natural texture (wavy). So in this post I'm going to share how I do that.
Shampoo
For shampoo, I make sure to use a shampoo that is good for my hair texture. I tend to stay away from "curly hair shampoo" because although my hair has some curls, it tends to not be the best for my hair type. I normally use shampoo that is made for all textures, or doesn't specify the hair texture. I don't use one set shampoo, but I do like Dove and Herbal Essences. And if you're going a little more expensive, I love Dae.
Conditioner
Conditioner is an entirely different category from shampoo. It REALLY depends on what texture and type of hair you have. Curly hair conditioner is normally thicker and deeper than other conditioners. It won't do anything bad for other hair types, but it might not make sense because it isn't doing anything special for your hair, and might weigh it down. I like using all-textures conditioner, which even though it says all textures, based on what I've heard from my curly hair family, it's not as good for curly hair. But it depends on the person/hair! I tend to use the same brand and scent of conditioner as shampoo, so I also recommend the same brands as shampoo for conditioner. For curly hair, I recommend Deva Curl or Ouidad.
Hair Mask
Every once and a while, I like to use a hair mask. Hair masks are great because they are really good at tackling specific hair goals. I like my hair to be soft, moisturized, healthy and shiny. There are lots of hair masks that do that! There are also hair masks for different textures of hair, like a curly hair mask. I recommend Dove (again!) because there is quite a lot of hair mask for the price, Dove is generally a good brand, AND one of them even received an award! I recently tried the Briogeo "Don't Despair, Repair" hair mask, and I received astoundingly good results if you are okay with a pricier product (thank goodness for sales!).
Brush
Like all hair things, a good brush means something different for each person. Some good ones (based on me and my curly hair family) are Tangle Teezer for curly hair and Wet Brush for wavy hair (I don't know about straight or coily hair, but I've heard it's not amazing for curly). But this one really depends on your hair texture!
This is what I use in a my hair routine, along with the occasional gel or cream for styling. Everyone's hair is different! Find what works for you and go with it. I hope you enjoyed today's post!
Over here! What do you use for you hair routine(s)? Tell me in the comments!
